TERMS OF
USE

Effective: 2026-06-19Controller: WE HUMAN, MB

1. Acceptance of Terms

By registering for, accessing, or participating in DemoDay (available at demoday.lt), operated by WE HUMAN, MB, you agree to these Terms of Use in full. If you do not agree, do not register or participate.

These Terms apply to all participants (engineers), partner companies, and website visitors. They govern your use of the DemoDay platform, challenge participation, prize eligibility, and AI-assisted evaluation.

2. About DemoDay

DemoDay is a 48-hour online paid engineering challenge where individual developers solve real tasks posted by partner companies using AI tools. Top submissions win cash prizes. Partner companies may extend employment offers to top builders at their sole discretion.

DemoDay is not a recruitment agency. We facilitate the challenge; we do not guarantee employment, interviews, or job offers to any participant.

3. Eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years old to participate
  • Participation is individual — team submissions are not permitted unless explicitly stated
  • Employees of partner companies posting tasks in the same edition may not participate in those tasks
  • You must have the legal right to work or contract in your jurisdiction to receive prize payouts
  • You must provide accurate registration information

4. Challenge Rules

4.1 Submission requirements

  • All work must be completed during the official 48-hour challenge window
  • You may use any AI tools (Cursor, Claude, GitHub Copilot, etc.) — AI assistance is encouraged and expected
  • Submissions must be your own original work, created during the challenge window
  • Plagiarism, copying other participants' work, or submitting pre-existing projects is grounds for immediate disqualification
  • Submissions must not violate any applicable law, intellectual property rights, or third-party terms of service

4.2 Judging

  • Submissions are evaluated by human judges from partner companies, assisted by AI scoring tools
  • AI-generated scores are advisory only — final decisions are made by human judges
  • Judging criteria include: code quality, problem-solving approach, AI tool usage, and task completion
  • Judge decisions are final. We do not conduct appeals except in cases of demonstrated procedural error

4.3 Disqualification

We reserve the right to disqualify any participant for: submission of ineligible work, violation of these Terms, abusive behaviour, or any conduct that undermines the integrity of the challenge.

5. Prizes

  • Prize amounts are stated per edition and may vary between tasks and companies
  • Prizes are paid to the top 3 submissions per task — split 60% / 25% / 15%
  • Prize payouts require valid identification and, where applicable, tax documentation
  • Prizes may be subject to local income tax obligations — participants are responsible for their own tax compliance
  • We reserve the right to withhold prizes in cases of disqualification or fraud
  • If a company withdraws before the challenge, prize contributions for their task will be refunded to participants pro-rated or reassigned at our discretion

6. Intellectual Property and Submission Licence

6.1 What you grant by submitting

By submitting your work to DemoDay and accepting these Terms at registration, you grant the partner company whose task you completed a non-exclusive, irrevocable, royalty-free, perpetual licence to use, reproduce, modify, and deploy your submission for their internal business purposes.

This licence is granted in exchange for the prize contribution funded by that company. The prize payment constitutes the consideration for this licence — no additional payment is required for the company to use your submission internally.

6.2 What you keep

  • You retain full copyright ownership of your original code
  • You may publicly showcase your submission (portfolio, GitHub, social media) at any time
  • You may reuse general techniques, patterns, and learnings from your submission in other work — the licence does not restrict your future engineering work
  • If you are hired by the company, any further IP arrangements are governed by your employment or contractor agreement with them, not these Terms

6.3 What the licence does not cover

  • Companies may not sub-licence, sell, or transfer your submission to third parties without your separate written consent
  • Companies may not remove your authorship attribution when publicly referencing your work
  • The licence applies only to the specific submission made during the challenge window — not to any prior or subsequent work you do independently

6.4 Starter repos provided by companies

If a company provides a starter repository, that repo remains their property. Any code you add on top of it is governed by clause 6.1 above. You may not use a company-provided starter repo outside the challenge without their express permission.

6.5 Informed consent at registration

Engineers are required to explicitly confirm this IP arrangement via a separate consent checkbox at registration — before submitting any work. Participation without completing that consent step is not permitted.

6.6 Platform content

All DemoDay branding, design, task briefs, and platform code are owned by WE HUMAN, MB. You may not copy, reproduce, or redistribute platform content without written permission.

7. AI-Assisted Evaluation (EU AI Act Disclosure)

DemoDay uses Anthropic Claude to assist in scoring submissions. This constitutes a high-risk AI system under EU AI Act Annex III, Section 4.

  • AI scoring is one input to human judges — no automated final decision is made without human review
  • You have the right to request a human review of any AI-generated score affecting you
  • You have the right to a meaningful explanation of the main factors in your AI score within 5 business days of a written request
  • Contact: hello@demoday.lt

8. Partner Companies — Hiring Disclaimer

Partner companies post tasks and judge submissions independently. They are under no obligation to extend job offers, interviews, or further engagement to any participant, including top-ranked ones.

Any hiring process that follows from DemoDay participation is a direct matter between the participant and the company. WE HUMAN, MB is not a party to any employment contract or offer.

A €999 flat placement fee applies to companies that hire a participant within 6 months of an edition. This does not affect the participant's compensation.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:

  • WE HUMAN, MB is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from platform use or challenge participation
  • We are not liable for technical issues preventing submission before the deadline
  • Our total liability to any participant shall not exceed the prize amount for the task they participated in
  • We make no warranties that the platform will be uninterrupted or error-free

10. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Lithuania. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Vilnius, Lithuania, unless mandatory consumer protection laws in your jurisdiction require otherwise.

For informal resolution, contact us first at hello@demoday.lt — we aim to resolve disputes within 14 days.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms as the platform evolves. Material changes will be communicated by email to registered participants at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued participation after that date constitutes acceptance.
